THE KITCHEN
Forest brown granite will grace our kitchen island.
Mark at Designer Surfaces traces the template to form our island counter top. We wanted our guests to be facing one another when sitting around the island.  With a square countertop, this is harder to achieve.
The Wolf cook top will command the island center.
Grinding the granite to make way for the stove fan and vent.

(Dec 15, 2008) Kathy's dream kitchen is finally taking shape. This is the heart of the home and Kathy is a skilled gourmet cook.

Dave Maust from Casselman Lumber and Timber Creek Cabinets in Grantsville, Maryland was our "go-to" guy for kitchen cabinets.  We sat down with Dave and designed our kitchen in the spring of 2008.  We chose a cherry red distressed look and our island is black knotty alder.

Our granite has been templated, cut and installed by Designer Services of Frederick, Maryland.  These people in our opinion are second to none in professionalism and quality control.  (Check out their virtual tour videos on how countertops are made) Our counter tops are a forest green granite and the curved island top is a forest brown.

We picked the Kenmore Elite Series for kitchen appliances and a Wolf Cook Top that is centered on the island.
